George T Llewellyn (composer) Patrick Hartnett (arranger)
In 1763, the Reverend Augustus Toplady was inspired to pen the words of his popular hymn Rock of Ages after he found shelter from a storm in the fissure of a gorge in the Mendip Hills. In 1915, the Welsh singer and composer George T. Llewellyn set Topladay's words to a tune of his own in a rousing version for contralto/baritone.
In this contemporary arrangement of Llewellyn's striking melody, composer Patrick Hartnett fuses the old and the new to present a lyrical piece for SATB choir and piano.
